The Australian Working Holidaymaker Visa programme (WHMV) provides great opportunities for people aged between 18 and 30 to holiday in Australia and have the right to incidental employment. The visa allows for a stay of up to 12 months from the date of first entry into Australia. It is also ‘multiple-entry’ meaning you can leave Australia and re-enter at any time within the 12 month validity period.

If you are planning to travel to Australia for the purpose of seeking long term, full time employment then you should review your eligibility against other relevant visas.

On this visa you are allowed to take any type of employment within Australia you wish provided you do not work for one employer for longer than a 6 month period. You also must not undertake any study/training for longer than 4 months.

It is also vital that you do not ‘overstay’ this visa as you could be penalised if you subsequently decide to emigrate to Australia as you loved it so much!

• The visa is valid for use for 12 months from the date of being ‘granted’
• The visas is valid for 12 months from the date you enter Australia
• If you depart Australia to travel elsewhere you cannot recover time lost outside of the country upon re-entry.
• You can only work for any one employer for a maximum of 6 months.
